ABST — A Better Screen Time

FROM IDEA TO ACTION

Our commitments

Building the signposts, gatherings and collective voice that are still missing.

ABST does not only want to talk about our relationship with screens. We want to create practical tools to help people choose what they watch, find places to meet and influence the decisions shaping our digital lives.

These projects will grow gradually with members of the movement, creators, partner venues and experts. This is the direction we want to give them.

OUR FIRST MILESTONE

100,000people signing the movement

One hundred thousand voices to show that our generation wants more intentional technology, and to give weight to proposals brought forward in France and Europe.

What we want to build

ABST — 01

An ABST label for physical places

Create a visible sign for cafés, schools, clubs, cultural spaces and events that encourage connection, curiosity and moments when phones can return to their rightful place.

  • Define a clear and accessible charter.
  • Test the label with pilot venues.
  • Help people discover labelled places and initiatives.
ABST — 02

An ABST label for content

Help everyone identify digital content that teaches, inspires, sparks creativity or connects people. The goal is not to choose for people, but to make worthwhile choices easier to see.

  • Build the criteria with users and creators.
  • Highlight useful videos, podcasts, media and formats.
  • Celebrate creators who respect their audience’s attention.
ABST — 03

Events that make people want to act

Organise gatherings, workshops, conversations and shared experiences where people can discover a practice, start a project, share a skill or simply enjoy time together.

  • Create accessible gatherings for young people.
  • Invite creators, associations, venues and professionals.
  • Design formats that can travel to several cities.
ABST — 04

A civic voice in France and Europe

Listen to the people who live with screens every day, especially young people, and carry their voices into French and European public debates and decisions.

  • Run consultations and gather testimonies.
  • Turn findings into clear proposals.
  • Engage with institutions and report back on the discussions.
ABST — 05

Resources for everyday action

Produce guides, campaigns and editorial formats that help people choose their attention, discover new practices and move from intention to a first action.

  • Share simple and free tools.
  • Document experiences that work.
  • Adapt and translate resources to reach more people.
